Liz Toonkel is a designer and a director who hails from Chappaqua, New York. She received her BFA in Film and Television with a minor in Gender and Sexuality at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and is currently a graduate Scenic Design student at the California Institute of the Arts. She has also studied at Parsons The New School for Design, FAMU and the Fashion Institute of Technology.

She has directed three short films and production and costume designed numerous commercials, music videos, plays and short films. She was the assistant art department coordinator for the first two seasons of The Celebrity Apprentice and has worked in the art departments of many film and television productions. She received an Art Direction award at the 2008 First Run Film Festival for the short film "Over Da Rainbow" which she costume and production designed.

Liz is also a certified yoga and Pilates instructor with a dance background.
